NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILE SUIT
A few years ago we thought it would be nice to have a Costco membership. We paid $100 for it. From that moment on, every single interaction we had with you was a nightmare. We gave up after only a month. We then wrote you a registered letter asking for our $100 back. We rec eived no reply. We waited a few months and sent another via registered mail; we received no reply. We always intended to get around to taking you to small claims court, but we never did.
A few years went by, and we mostly forgot about our horrible experiences with you. And we reasoned that you MUST have gotten your act together after several YEARS, because you couldn’t possibly have stayed in business had you continued as you were. A few days ago we needed some ink. The Costco site came up in a search. We figured, “What the heck – we’ll try them again.”
We bought about $500 in ink and billed it to a debit card account at Key Bank which had more than enough in it to cover the purchase. We paid $50 for another Costco membership as well. How fecking stupid we are.
The transaction went through fine. The $566 was taken from our account. All was well.
Next morning we came in and checked the account for suspicious activity, as we always do. We found that you had debited our account a second time for $500. That put it in the red. We instantly transferred a bunch of funds from a savings account, but it was too late. The overdraft charges had already started to cascade. They’d shown on one of the attached sheets.
This is being posted to a “Costco Sucks” site. We’re making our own.
You must perform the following steps to stay out of court this time. If you do not comply within ten working days, make no mistake, we will sue you miserable, mentally handicapped sons of bitches from here to Costa Rica. We’ve by God had enough:
- Stop accessing our debit account for any reason, whether to withdraw or credit. You are NOT authorized to access this account for any reason, ever again.
- You will immediately refund our $50 membership fee and cancel our membership.
- You will repay the $100 you failed to refund several years ago.
- You will pay ALL overdraft fees that resulted from your stupid stunt (see attached page). The amount is CURRENTLY $138. It may increase.
- You will write a letter of apology to our bank (Key Bank) and deliver a copy to us, that will serve to exonerate us from the black marks that banks place on one’s banking record when a customer overdrafts.
- You will, in writing, promise to pay for any further charges our bank levies against us as a result of your bone-headed stupidity.
- You will promise, in writing, to never contact us again, for any reason, either directly, indirectly, by phone, or email, by carrier pigeon, smoke signal, mental telepathy or mail. You’re imbeciles. We don’t need any more imbeciles in our lives.
- You will reimburse us $6.75 for the cost of postage on this letter.
- You will reimburse us the sum of $25 for the time invested in writing this letter.
You have ten (10) working days to comply, from the date you sign for this registered document. On the 11th day we will file suit against you; at that moment we will no longer accept the settlement sum(s) noted herein. We will “probably” file in small claims in Seattle; we reserve the right to file in District court and claim other damages.
We won’t be pushed backward one more millimeter by you miserable, brain-dead fools. This is our line in the proverbial sand. We will interact with you (a) ONLY in the settlement of this matter, and (b) ONLY in writing. Every word you communicate to us will be posted publicly at the following URL:
