We've had GREAT luck with Servint for the past year or two. But the following exchange demonstrates that NO host is perfect. This unpleasant incident doesn't dissuade us from continuing to sing the praises of Servint. But it makes us wonder who they schedule on duty for holidays and weekends.

Under user "xxxxxxxxxx" we just now set up a new domain called "xxxxxxxxxx.com" using shared ip 207.58.151.xxx. However, we just recieved the following email from the server which is at odds with what we did. It "appears" as though the correct thing was done by Plesk, but the wrong email was sent out. This is mostly just FYI.

Also, we know we have to tell the server to start watching for traffic for you-tattoo.com on 207.58.151.xxx, but we don't know where to do that. Seems like it was through the Servint Portal somewhere, but we can't find it. Please either point us to the right place, or associate the domain and the ip for us. Thanks. (We'll re-point the nameservers at Network Solutions to the nameservers for this server in a few minutes).

Here's the weird email from the server saying we used ip xxx-exclusive, instead of the ip we did use, xxx-shared.

A new domain has been created in Plesk.

Domain name: you-tattoo.com

Client owner: xxxxxxxx

Domain IP: 207.58.151.xxx exclusive

Webstatistics should be enabled via the Plesk control panel:

Web statistics (accessible via password protected directory '/plesk-stat/' )

Everything in the domain seems to be in order. Is there a specific problem ongoing?

No specific problem. We didn't inquire about webstats.

Mainly we just wanted ip 207.58.151.xxx to be associated with the new domain you-tattoo.com. Assuming that's done, we're fine.

Update:

We seem to recall that we're supposed to set up something at this url for new domains, but we're not sure which fields to complete:

https://portal.servint.net/tools.php

Traffic in your portal graphs are your server as a whole and nothing needs to be added.

[Customer Response] Thu Jan 01 2009 02:36AM

Once again, we are NOT inquiring about traffic, graphs, or webstats.

Once again, we are NOT inquiring about traffic, graphs, or webstats.

Please kick this up to another support member and we'll try this again.

(1) We have set up a new domain called you-tattoo.com on ip 207.58.151.xxx

(2) We've pointed the nameservers at Network Solutions to the following:

ns.servint.net and ns2.servint.net

(3) When we go to the Servint Portal, then click "Network Tools", we're presented many options. We're not sure which option to use to make this domain live. THAT is our problem.

This has ZERO to do with traffic, graphs, or webstats.

This has to do with making this domain viewable from this server.

So you want that domain to be added to our nameservers? If yes, I will do so. This is not something you can do on your end.

 [Customer Response] Thu Jan 01 2009 02:18PM

YES!

NO! NO! NO!

NO! NO! NO!

This is becoming absolutely unacceptable! You guys have been great for the past year but this is too much to tolerate! Please go back and read this thread! The ip for this domain is

207.58.151.xxx

This is actually one of the worst incidents of support we have ever seen with any host!

 Ken G - NOC Thu Jan 01 2009 06:06PM

This has been changed to .xxx
